A WOMAN mayor has sparked a scandal by posing for sexy snaps — wearing just her ceremonial chain.
Saucy mum-of-three Sharon Smith, 48, shed her robes for the photos in her town hall office soon after taking on the prestigious role.
But the X-rated shots — taken by her husband Tim — were then downloaded from her computer by a prankster and have been sent round the world by email.
Sharon has faced demands to quit for bringing the town into disrepute, yet refuses to apologise and insists she will stay on.
She said the pictures — one showing her grinning starkers in her official black leather chair — were taken to celebrate her election.
And she added angrily: “The pictures of myself were for my husband and myself only, not for anyone else’s benefit.
"There was no disgrace or anything to do with the position of mayor. I am very hurt and embarrassed.”
“The pictures were taken from our home without permission. I’m disheartened by those few who seem to be taking pleasure and enjoyment from this.”
Ironically, keen hiker Sharon proclaimed herself a role model for women and children when she became the first woman mayor of the tiny mountain resort of Houston, in British Columbia, Canada, last year.
Councillor Nipper Kettle said: “It shows total disrespect for people she represents.”
Still, it might liven up British towns and cities if dignitaries like London mayor Ken Livingstone followed Sharon’s example.
