Opinion!
I enjoy reading the differences of opinions here.I was wondering
what everyones opinions on this incident were.I have been semi-
following this story on TV news.It seems a man, read an ad in a
newspaper,with a $200 off coupon,towards a new or used vehicle
from Ports. Toyota. He apparently bought many newspapers and
cut out multiple coupons. He took all of the coupons to Ports.Toyota and wanted a car, being as there was no stated limit
on the # of coupons. The dealership has refused to give him a
vehicle. The case is supposedly in court now.I heard on the eve. news that the N.H.Better Business Bureau has refused to enter
the dispute. What do you think that the outcome should be?Should he be awarded a vehicle or shouldn't he? Irish
P.S.I would like to see him get a vehicle, just because I love to see
the corporations lose, but I don't think that he will.(This is where all of those, innate, warnings like, not to be used to trim hedges,on
rotary lawnmowers come from.)

It's pretty obvious the dealership meant limit 1 per car, but if no limit is stated, than their marketing dept. dropped the ball. This is somewhat akin to the guy that collected enough Pepsi Points to win a Harrier Jet. Pepsi put it in the ad as a joke, and then he came up with the points needed for it. He never got it though. (Which I think was wrong.) I think he should get his car. There are a lot of dumb things that are on products and such, but I don't think it's too much to put "Limit 1 coupon per car" on these things. Going as far as putting a warning against eating the coupon would be excessive... But I agree Irish, He'll probably lose.

I think that guy has way to much time on his hands....I can picture him running all over town buying up every newpaper for the coupon. I also wonder what idiot of a lawyer would even take the case. lol

I don't know about GIVING him a car for this oversight, but I think he should be awarded a substantial discount on a new car.
Like Aqua said, it's not too much to ask that they state, "One coupon per customer, per car"

This reminds me of the Hooters waitress who won a contest at work.......she understood the prize to be a car, a Toyota. The restaurant later told her the prize was a "toy Yoda".

What's the world coming to?? Well, same shit it always was, I suppose....
Should he get the car? I don't think so - no reasonably intelligent person with an ounce of sanity would believe that was what the competition was stating. It's not like he didn't realise there wasn't a limit and the thought never occured to him - he went "Whoa, they've forgotten to put a limit on, I'm going to exploit this stupid technicality to the extremes of stupidity." Those were probably his exact words.
Are we going to be caught on every single technicality possible? Are people so braindead, so used to society looking after them that they can't put two and two together and get a number less than five but greater then three?
Do we need to be TOLD everything, even if it would otherwise be pretty obvious? Wake up!
Oh, I know, I know.... it's everybody's personal right to expect companies to dumb everything down for them, you're right. And, yes, everybody has a right to exploit the slightest weakness if it works to our advantage. Because let's face it, we're so selfish that if someone jokingly offers to give us a car for free we'd expect it to be delivered on Thursday, complete with leather seats and a personalised number plate.
So, if you can't guess, no I don't think he should get the car. Yes, it was very funny, and everyone thinks it was a magnificent waste of his money, but at the end of the day a joke is a joke - and no joke is funny enough to deserve a free car.
Well, maybe some of Eddie Murphy's jokes come close. A bicycle, perhaps. With an ajustable seat and a musical bell. But not front suspension.
Ok, the rant's over folks! Bottom line - Nup!

Well, generally I lean towards the little guy, but in this case, I don't think so.

as stupid as it seems being that the dealer was most likely trying to pull some scam to begin with yeah i think he should get the car but doubt he will. reminds me of seeing an ad repeatedly on tv that at pride hyundia i could get a brand new excel for 5 thou. i drove an hour, test drove, had them write up the papers and wound up asking "what do you mean it's 5 thou after i put down 4?'
wasn't worth my time to go after them but i hope he sticks it to them even if he just gives them roids
