This topic is an interesting one that I've recently pondered because of a prominent settlement between the State of Connecticut and a man wrongfully imprisoned for 18 years of a 45 year sentence. He was exonerated after DNA testing (which wasn't available at the time) proved that semen on the victim's clothes was not his.
He maintained his innocence the entire time.

Complete surrender should not just come at moments in which one faces overwhelming odds, but in the calm when it seems one is personally in complete control of one's life.
