The Baltimore-born author whose novels "The Hunt for Red October" and "Patriot Games" subsequently inspired blockbuster movies and action-packed video games, died Tuesday after a brief illness at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He was 66.


RIP Mr. Clancy. And thank you for hours upon hours of entertainment.

I loved reading his books. First one I read was Hunt for Red October and I finished it in one day. Couldn't set it down.

You'll be missed Tom Clancy ... rest in peace!

One more Ryan book coming out in December. I'll probably buy it but not read it because I hate when things end.

Kinda like the Vince Flynn book I have.
