Stress
As many of you are aware, I am polyamorous.
This morning (at 0430 !), I got a text message from my girlfriend saying that her husband had been admitted to the hospital, and was in ICU from about 2100 Sunday night. Subsequent phone call clarified that what put his there was some sort of nasty unresolved stomach/intestinal problem.
Other than that, don't know what's up. Maybe further clarification later today. Don't know how much time he's down for, either.

There is a core of real stress (which is the shit we cannot control) and tag-along stress which is all the other shit. Please keep your eye on the right stress. Hope the boyfriend-in-law gets better.

I trust that your girlfriend's husband is rapidly recovering?

So, yeah, a call while I was at work yesterday.
Stomach/abdominal pain sent him into the hospital, CAT scan or MRI to check for possible complications from hernia surgery a while back were negative; but the results from an EKG sent the doctors into a tizzy, and that's why he's in ICU. Still there, AFAIK.

So, it turns out he has kidney stones, intestinal polyps & inflammation, and possible damage to the upper GI tract. Got out of ICU sometime yesterday, but they were going to hold him in general population until today for more tests.

At least now they have an understanding of what needs to be fixed.

And further update: kidney stones are present, but not large or numerous enough to present a problem (ie, they are very few and very small, barely detectable). Turns out, he's pre-diabetic, though, and apparently, his gall bladder was eaten by zombies.

Mistook it for his brain? Doesn't say much for the class of zombie in your area.

Well, zombies are known for eating brains, not necessarily for having them.
After all there's the old saying "You can't have your brain, and eat it, too".

If at first you don't succeed, eat a brain.
