endometriosis - any sufferers on here?
Hiya guys - long time no *boop* etc. Missed you all!
I've been off on one the last few months, in and out of hospital for tests - all started end of last year when I started suffering from really bad pelvic pain. Got reffered for an ultrasound and they found a mass on my right ovary. They did the cancer antigen blood test on me which came back with an abnormal reading - so straight off for an MR and CT scan - results came back that I wasn't suffering from cancer - but that it was a particularly nasty case of endometriosis.
I'm waiting on a second opinion from another Gynae at the moment as the first Gynae I saw was proposing a saling-oopherectomy and at 28 really think that's a bit drastic considering the fact that I've no kids as yet and everything else was healthy on the scans. My own Doc agreed with me luckily thus why I'm waiting for a second opinion.
Just wondered if there were any other sufferers on here and if they had any help/advice or just some ((hugs)) from one sufferer to another?
hugs n thanks
cavey

I sympathize although my troubles were very different they were in the same general area. I'm a good deal older than you and have children but I am painfully aware through the loss of a friend how fatal ovarian cancer is and that longevity is tied often to how soon you catch it.
Here I think we call them salpingo-oopherectomies. With one removed you could still get pregnant with the other ovary couldn't you? Could you have them do an egg count in the other ovary?

Hiya - thanks so much for your reply . According to the Gynae I could still get pregnant with the one ovary - but there is more than a 75% chance the endometriosis will come back on the 'good' side.
What they are proposing to do is put me on Zoladex to induce a pseudo-menopause after whatever op I have - I'll have that for 6 months and then they'll check my fertility and see if my periods come back. The new Gynae I'm seeing is a fertility specialist also, so I will ask her about doing an egg count - hadn't thought of that .
I'm really sorry you lost a friend to ovarian cancer ((hug)) - although thank goodness everything was ok with me I did lose an Aunt to it so I can understand, and also why they jumped on the tests so quickly with me.
Thanks Lilith

It's good that you are following it up!The medical people usually tell you nothing. When my wife was pregnant, with our first daughter, she got experimental "shots" because we supposedly had differing blood types. She
had that daughter & then had another one.We talked it over & eventually
she had her tubes tied to avoid future pregnancies. My daughters are now
40 & 38 & each have two children. We were recently told that my wife had ONE ovary & the blood type on my dog tags was wrong. As I said, medical people don't tell you anything!I still can't figure the dogtags because I had
blood because of a VN wound. Irish
