9/11...Not Forgotten

Just a quick note:

I heard on the news last evening that there are still some 1000+ unidentified victims of 9/11. The DNA testing has gone as far as it can go and they are calling it off for now till science can advance far enough to reopen the case. Samples are so small now that there is no way to determine one person from something/someone else. The samples will be kept for further research in the future...should science come up with a way to differentiate.

It's so sad for me to think of the families whose loved ones haven't been identified and have no remains to lay to rest in the fashion of their chioce. I feel close to this story even though I didn't know anyone directly impacted by the events of 9/11. My brother's remains were lost in a mishap at a creamatorium (sp?) in California (long, long, story) and all we have are memories! I still yearn for the closure!

My heart goes out to the families of those still unidentified! May they find peace in their heart someday!

Well as we only got the news threads from tv on 9/11 I can only imagine what all of you americans felt that day and still do to this day. It was a tragedy that should never of happened. We (australia) also lost people in this tragedy. So australia also cried that day. Anyway my condolences to you all.

Saddness for all those who have died at the hands of terrorists. So many have died from so many countries. Just pray one day it will all stop and people will learn to live together in peace.

I remember that day, I was taking my daughter to her first dental appointment. Heard it on the radio and watched it on every t.V. we came across. Later that day I went to work and we sold little flags, I bought one and it has been in my back car window ever since.

Thanks guys!

Not that this date was anything to strike up a remembrance...(sorry to bring up old wounds)...but that I feel so close to the survivors that have no closure because the testing is now done for them...and for me, my brother's ashes were lost because he remained a "John Doe" in a California creamatorium for 7 years before we tracked him down and identified him through the cororner's report. Our family never got that final closure that the 1000+ surviving families will probably never have.

It's a really hard thing to explain...and I've got to say that "closure" isn't really the perfect description of my feelings (and so I think it's not for the survivors either). It's more like...sheer and utter disappointment that you can't cleave to your loved one for that ultimate LAST time...before you lay them to rest! YES! That's it! It's like you've let them down somehow...in NOT bringing them home!

Oh...well...life goes on!
