Best Gift ......... given
What is the gift you are excited about or looking forward to GIVING the most. Not the biggest or most expensive, but the one that is special to you and/or the person it's intended for.
Later I'll share one that was special a couple years back for my son.

Every time I think of Christmas Past, I think of a gift that I had given my oldest son when he was 7. He is 21 now. He had been wanting this particular item for a long time, and really didn't think he would get it. We wrapped it in a weird shaped box so he wouldn't guess...... I can still see him ripping the paper off and opening that box and finding his Nintendo..... I knew he would be happy, but I didn't realize he would be so happy he would break down and cry real tears his joy and then jump around the room like someone possessed and then almost peed his pants. He even let us take a picture of him holding the box... lol Thank goodness we remembered to buy some games to go with it..... rofl

I see it was 3 years ago now, but this was one of the most fun presents I've given in a long time.
First you need to know that through some magical event, an appreciation for classic movies developed with my son and it is something we've enjoyed together. We have been, and are, regular attendees at one of our grand old downtown theaters that occasionally shows some of the classic on a 30 ft. screen. That understood.......... One year I happened onto something that I knew would strike a spark with him and gave him this present and only said "I bet you can tell me what it is before you get it open", to an odd look on his face.

The fun and challenge came in duplicating a packaging job so unique and memorable, it was telling. I'll show you the still from the move and the result of my clone try.
Getting Chinese newspaper only took a trip down to Chinatown. Finding actual sisal twine proved more daunting. Today's hardware's don't carry much twine without kevlar or nylon fiber.

The cotton duct cloth, cotton batting and cheesecloth only required a trip to a fabric store.

Having never mentioned movies, I was pleased to see a suspicious smile when he got to the batting and "Is this the falcon? " as he felt around on the last wrapping, with a wider smile.
YES! I at least enjoyed getting and giving this as much as he seems to treasure it now.
[As some Pixies can tell you, I enjoy people have 'significant statuary'.]

I can't wait to give my daughter her "bicycle for games". She wants a Fisher Price Smart Cycle so bad she can taste it. It is the ONLY thing she has asked for. If you really really press her on if she wants anything else she might add Chocolate Cake to the list. So I'm really looking forward to being able to get her the one and only thing she's asked for this Christmas season.

I have a few gifts that I am hoping people like. We have had to cut way down on the gift giving this year.

I was thinking about this thread today as Cobalt and I were shopping....
I wondered what kind of gift I could give to the special people in my life that would not necessarily be an object that they wanted, but something that would evoke wonderful memories - at the time, trying to make our way through the stores, I couldn't think of anything...but next year, I will.
Thanks PF for reminding me what one of the real meanings of Christmas is!
