The Pixies Travel Guide
I thought it would be interesting for us to share with each other our part of the world. If we were to travel to your part of the world, describe to us what sights we should visit, attractions to see, and places to dine. Include web links, and up to three photos.
I’m off to take some photos of Winnipeg. Unlike the song title ‘Portage and Main at 40 below’, today is sunny and warm.
Cheers.

This is what it looks like 'round here at the moment...
We don't have much...we have to travel in order to "see the sites"

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Located at the forks of the Red and Asiniboine River. Winnipeg is often referred to as ‘The Gateway to Western Canada’. It was the historic summer meeting place of Native Americans, the home to The Hudson Bay Company of Adventure and the North West Company fur trading posts.

For most I would think that visiting Winnipeg would be more enjoyable in the summer. We can and often do get temperatures down to -30c in January and February. But in the summer it is warm and sunny. Come join the Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Jazz or Fringe fest. For some ethnic diversity come and see Folkarama. There are 46 different cultures showing you there national dance, dress, songs, and food.
The photo is of the Pavilion in Assiniboine Park. It houses an Art Gallery, restaurant, and gift shop. This is also where The Royal Winnipeg Ballet does there ’Ballet in the Park’ series.

Here's one of two favorite local parks. I need to get some pictures of Peoria to share.
In the area are several nice places to visit. Peoria has a beautiful zoo and botanical gardens; a marvelous civic center ($160M); a riverboat (stern wheeler) for river trips; a gambling boat (for those so inclined); "Grandview Drive" overlooking the Illinois River Valley (Teddy Roosevelt once called it the most beautiful street in the world ... don't know if I'd go that far, but it is beautiful with large beautiful mansions overlooking the valley far below); a planetarium; Wildlife Prarie Park (with native wildlife in their natural settings); and much, much more. It's really not a bad place to live near.
Oh, yeah, lots of great places to eat! Both fancy and down-to-earth.
Surrounding Peoria are many small quaint towns and many local festivals that can also be fun to visit.
Ya'll come to see us now.

I live in Orlando, Florida
We have heat and rain in the summer.
You can go to all the Disney theme parks, Universal and Sea World.
I don't think a pic is required for theme parks. You all know the mouse right?
