Money sense??
Perhaps you guys can explain this to me.I don't have all of the facts but it seems,to me,like a horrible waste of money.I think that
most of our bottled water is imported from overseas. There is a new outfit around here that has been doing pump contamination&
area effection tests. The name is US Springs. They own land off
Rt4,in Nottingham&Barrington,NH.They want to withdraw thousands of gals. of water a day.(439,000?)The water will be
bottled,and shipped overseas,for sale.I get continuous updates
on the Web from Save Our Groundwater.com?As you can surmise,
many local residents, that have wells, are suspicious as to how it
will affect our groundwater. My family(alone)gets all of its water from a well.(Toilets,sinks,showers,etc.)I can't understand why we
are shipping water overseas and getting water from there.I have
this picture in my mind of a mate on a freighter, saying to his Captain, when looking at a ship going the opposite way."What are
they transporting?"The Captain awnsers "Bottled Water."The mate says"That's what we have!"With everyone so concerned about finances, this seems like a total waste to me.Perhaps someone, can elighten me as to the sense.Even our Gov.is against
what impact it might have on the water table! Irish

Isn't it wonderful how all this works.
"I'll buy your lemonade, Johnny, if you'll by mine."
"Okay, that's a deal. Then we'll both make sales."
Dah.
At least they're happy.

And if the water has been filtered through the mountains of France for thousands of years.....why does it have a sell by date ?

The answer is import and export taxes. On any product made and sold it is cheaper for the government to import the same item. I was at an american AF base in England and would drink British lager that had an import label on it when it was brewed right down the road.

apia317---Possibly of interest to you as you say you were stationed in England. When I was in the air force,we used to go on alert duty, for 3wks. at a time,to Briesnorton AFB,in England.
They closed the base while I was still in.I was discharged in 1965.
I,m not sure of the spelling.I was a Recip.Eng.Mechanic,but when on alert duty,we just kept the planes ready for their mission. We
did everything mechanical or electrical.I brought a B.S.A. motor-
cycle back from there on a KC-97.Dirt cheap compared to here!

You should check to see were the water is bottled, most of it comes for USA city water taps and just filter one or two more times. One of the larges distributer in Illinois sell door to door in 21/2 and 5 gal. jugs. The 21/2gal jug reads Peoria city tap water and the 5gal jug says Chicago city tap water. No most bottled water is USA water.

P T Barnum was right. This water scam is a tribute to marketing wizards. You know something is very wrong when a 6-pack of water costs more than a 6-pack of beer.
The same thing happened to television with the entry of cable. We are now paying for something that used to be relatively free.
Never underestimate the gullibility of the populace at large.

Irish,
Is there any information on the replenishment rate of the
water supply in the aquifer?
Also, is the water supply from rain or water which is trapped
in the strata?
It'll tell us if there'll be any water left over for private consumers.

OF---I think that the water level is replentished by springs. The Co.
had to perform a Pump Test,to see if taking that amount, would
effect area wells. The information is on the website:Welcome to
SaveOurGroundwater.org .I have an idea that ,if it bothers peoples wells, they will have alot of unexplained disasters there.
They are not in business yet and there has already been one fire
of suspiscious origin there. Our property is many miles away and a
few years ago,our well ran dry, before I had it converted to a
"submersible"type,at a few thousand dollars expense to me.I keep,a few jugs,of water in my back room, just so I can flush&
refill my toilets,in case that they run dry again. Irish
P.S.Sure things---Death,Taxes&water running out!
