I don't think those values have anything to do with redneck, but have to do with a general respect that is taught in southern cultures (and others as well). As a service's memeber's wife, I'm glad to see that some folks still hold basic vaules and have a respect for soldiers that are working hard and away from their families. Nothing in the world makes me madder than seeing people remain seated, talk through or refuse to remove their headwear for the national anthem and the pledge.  I"m glad all of your mama's taught you properly in regard to that
