I do romance whenever I can and Valentine's day is important for me because I was one of those who was 'learning the truth at seventeen' and I 'knew the pain of valentines that never came' so when it comes around these days I like to mark the occasion because I can.

Last year we went away to a lovely hotel and I went shopping before hand and bought champagne, chocs and a rose for my love. We did it a little bit last minute and there weren't any tables available in the hotel's restaurant, so we had room service brought up to us.

This year, I'm cooking dinner for the two of us.....parma ham and mozarella to start, boeuf-en-croute for main course and home made chocolate and caramel mousse for dessert.

My ambition is still for someone else to arrange valentine's day for me. It's always me who has to say, 'If we want to go out for a meal, we need to book it a month in advance, or we won't get in anywhere' and I usually end up doing all the arranging....and if, like this year, no table is booked, then it's always me who ends up doing the cooking. I suppose it's just more important to me than it is to him. *sigh*....I did get a lovely card this year though
