I hear ya boilergirl1!
I don't rightly blame the newsperson[s] themselves, persay...as they are reading what is set before them on the teleprompter. But, if I am correct...the newsperson does have a chance to review his/her reports for their particular segment[s] and should speak out if something seems askew. Segue is everything in communication! This leads me to my suspicions that news reporters don't really absorb what they are reporting...but are just puppets who speak the words and make sure (at least some of the time) that they are pronouncing names and places correctly.
So, who IS actually responsible for the content and segue's? The director or producer of each broadcast? I don't know enough about reporting to answer that...but some heads should be on the block for content and segue of most broadcasts of the human nature...and especially the one you drew us a picture for!!!
My heart goes out to all those involved in this traumatic event...and my thoughts are with them as they struggle to recover from it's devastation!!!
