You know, one of the things that bothers me is the parent saying to the kid in public, "If you don't stop X (or do X), then I'm going to do Y". Over and over again. Instead of doing Y.
Really does nothing but reinforces the idea that the parents are quite willing to lie in order to try and modify the kid's behavior.
A request was made for the kids to change their behavior, then a warning was given, then consequences were announced, and the kids still didn't.
This is discipline, and it doesn't involve relatively ineffective violence to the kids.
More power to the parents.
