Speaking from a small dose of experience with glass... having some sort of a base (handle) or having one that is extra long makes for better control due to the lubrication issue PF mentions... but I assure you there is nothing quite like the firmness that only glass can have... and a bullet placed in just the right place at the same time...*purrrrrr*
