A drug is anything that effects the way your body functions, for better or worse. An herb or natural remedy that effects the way your body functions (i.e. improves erections) is a drug. Drugs of any source, herbal or synthesized, can have harmful interactions...particularly if they are diametrically opposed (one to lower blood pressure, one to raise it). Herbal or "natural" drugs are sometimes considered milder or healthier alternatives by their proponents, this is not always true. Herbal effects can be milder, but this is generally because the effects are indirect or the efficacious substance in the concoction is diluted down by other ingredients. Because of the way "natural remedies" are regulated, they can contain many more impurities than synthetic drugs, which may or may not have effects all their own.
I have no problem with people who sucessfully use herbal remedies (although it must be said that because they're treated as nutritional suppliments, their theraputic claims are not tested as strictly as synthetic drugs), some of them can and do help people. But if they're effective, they're drugs...and you should consult your physician or at the very least your pharmacist before combining them with what you're already on. These folks went to school for years to know how to avoid the sorts of problems you can get into by self-medicating without their training. Use 'em. It'll make them feel useful.
It may well be the case that your doc can find another pbm that will be kinder to your sex life...just have to "grasp" the problem, and ask.
