This is a neat thread! Like I had said before, we have to do a little traveling in order to see our local sites. Below are just a few of attractions that are somewhat close to us...

The surf was the last venue that Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens played. The plane that they were traveling in crashed into a farm field - there is also a memorial there as well.

The Music Man Square is really a neat place. Meridith Wilson hailed from "River City" and this museum is a nice tribute to him and his works.

The Amana Colonies is a really neat place to visit. Lots of historical info, and you can see how a small community survived during the pioneer times...really neat place.
