Yes, it is reasonable that drug companies be allowed to recoup their research and development expenses and realize a reasonable profit.

BUT -- much of the R&D expense is actually in the form of government subsidies -- that's our money funding the research, folks!

And how many more billions (that Billions with a B) is spent on advertising, some of which could be funneled back into additional R&D?
