Lots of construction here too (Bow). I think that stems from the road folk here having only about three days between perma-frosts to work on roads.
The other thing I noticed about NH since I moved here (from the Florida Keys) is that there is very little zoning. In Florida, and in many other places, you just can't cut down trees to make way for a house. In NC, you have to get a permit for each tree you would like to remove.
Here it seems, the philosophy is just "cut it down" -- but I agree with you, it is distressing to see and watch wide expanses of woodland give way to a house that is probably twice the size it needs to be.
Why does a family of four need a 6,000 sq. ft. house?
