I’m sure the main reason for the outcry over the pictures is that these soldiers were sent in to Iraq to rescue the people from the brutal regime that was in place. To then be confronted with images of the rescuers being just as brutal as the original dictators must be horrifying. The one thing we can take comfort in is that this was a very small number of people. I find there excuse that they weren’t given any training on how to look after prisoners a bit poor, I don’t think anyone needs training to tell them it’s not right to stand someone on a box, cover their head with a hood and tell them that if they move they’ll be electrocuted. The majority of troops serving in Iraq are there to ensure the safety of everyone and it’s these people we should be thinking of.
