In the States, most insurance plans will cover gynecolgy appointments, but many of them won't cover the cost of birth control pills unless you are taking them for a reason other than birth control (stupid, I know). My daughter's birth control pills (prescription) cost $35.99 per month at Walgreen's. If you can get them from Planned Parenthood, I imagine they would, indeed, be cheaper.
