My ex-husband and I didn't think anything of being nude in front of our kids; we'd be taking a shower or getting cleaned up in the bathroom, for example, and the kids (1 boy and 1 girl) would come in to ask a question or want something. We didn't think anything of it. I still don't think anything of being nude around my daughter (now almost 19) or in my pjs or underwear around my son (age 26).

We talked about masturbation w/each kid when the subject came up (when we saw them masturbating at around age 2 or 3) and explained that it was fine for them to enjoy their bodies but that it was a private special thing for them...in other words, don't be jacking off in front of the TV when Grandma and Grandpa are over visiting.

I gave my daughter a pocket rocket vibrator, a soft porn book, and a how-to book on masturbation when she started her period at age 11 to celebrate her entering womanhood. I explained to her that I wasn't trying to say that masturbation was for adults only but just to celebrate her threshold into adulthood and to let her know that she could bring pleasure to herself; she didn't have to go hunting for someone else to supply her w/that...that it's a dangerous world out there w/regard to STDs, etc. and to take her time in being sure she's ready for such activities w/others...and so on.
