Visiting family recently my husband was accosted by my very rightwing, pro-gun, pentacostal/evangelical Christian, uncle. He was subjected to to a 30 minute lecture because we would not let our kids shoot air rifles and bbguns with his grandkids. He explained to my husband that when you explain to kids how to use weapons, it takes the mystery away and allows for them to be responsible, be less curious, less experimental, and to be prepared to use one wisely. My husband, ever respectful, patient, calm, quiet, and non-argumentitive, waited for him to finish and then quipped, " I see your point! That's exactly why we believe so strongly in sex ed in schools" ......I would have given a zillion dollars to see my uncle's face
