Well I have done that too, thinking a conversation was more interesting. I think it has more to do with the fact that you can only hear the one side of it. You're only getting half the information. I mean how many times has someone called you (or have you called someone) and talked dirty and then you (or the other person) can't talk back that way so you are telling them mundane stuff...
