When we get out of the shower and slip on our robs, I know there’ll be a medium size glass of tomato juice (with a slight sprinkle of salt and pepper) and steaming coffee (just a touch of cream please), a half a grape fruit (salt lightly), two eggs sunny-side-up (basted just enough to close the eyes and salt and peppered while cooking). Three strips of bacon (fried just short of crispy) and a half serving of home fries, with white toast (toasted medium, never toast that is crumbly).... cloth napkin (never paper at breakfast) and a bud glass with a single white rose that will open later in the day.

OH! You mean this is the maids day off?……. or is she still crumpled in the bed clothes from last night?


In that case, I’ll take the plain doughnut and black coffee, (it can heat on the dash by the defroster).
