My S/O works in the power industry here; watching CNN tonight, he said that NYC's mayor was right on target as far as what happened with the overload and the requirements needed to go back online. He also made the comment that those in the plants affected were quite fortunate; the main plant, a 1200 megawatt nuclear facility, could have easily had problems had it "tripped." Thank goodness for back-up plans and safety checks.
