Bob Hope was a man worth remembering. I had the privilege to meet him briefly once when he was on a USO tour. A really great man!

I remember when he visited Peoria and the Civic Center was new. At that time there was an adult theatre in a little town about 10 miles away called Delavan. His openning remark to the crowd at the Civic Center was, "It's great to be here in Peoria ... gateway to Delavan."

The crowd roared!
