Thanks for starting this thread, Nubian! Bob Hope was one of a kind and there will never be another like him.
My husband also saw him when he was stationed in Viet Nam in '68-'69. He has always been grateful for the little bit of 'home' that Bob Hope provided for all the service men and women.
Just think.........he entertained our troops during 4 different conflicts.... WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Gulf War I. And it wasn't just one or two trips overseas to do this.....he went time after time after time. I would not hesitate to call him a National Hero.
I believe his contributions to the American military men and women and our comrades in each conflict, and in turn to the Free World...he should be honored by the American Government. I would love to see the President order our flags flown at Half Staff and a National period of mourning be declared. It's the least we can do. If he's already done so, I haven't heard about it yet. I hope he has the guts to do it.
