Nude Dancers Ad Was Misleading?

LONDON (Reuters) - The leaflet promoting a concert in Leeds promised naked dancers -- but failed to deliver. In the event, the dancers were clothed, there was no nudity, and one unhappy customer decided to protest.

Wednesday, Britain's advertising watchdog backed the complaint.

The leaflet was promoting a performance at the Phoenix Dance Theater in Leeds, northern England, and showed two naked dancers leaping through the air, with two more such images on the inside pages.

But the complainant said this was misleading because the show did not include any nudity.

The Advertising Standards Authority agreed, saying: "readers were likely to expect that the performances contained naked dancers." It said in future advertisers using nude images should make it clear if performers were to be fully clothed.
