In my part of the world we celebrate on the 23rd (celebrating both midsummer and the birth of John the Baptist)...it's a day filled with barbecues, lots of drinking, and bonfires on the beach.

Old beliefs say that if a young woman wants to know who she is going to marry she should go out at night and pick 7 or 9 herbs and put them under her pillow....in her dreams she will see the face of her future husband. (I think I'll try that this year... )

The dew falling on this night has remarkable healing powers...so if you feel a bit poorly, get naked and roll around in the grass.
