Interesting thread….. and I have an honest question (or observation) about men and emotional bonds.

Being from a different American cultural upbringing, (50’s) your statements about bonds between men caught my attention. I’ll let the psychologists and anthropologists hypothesize why it is this way for me.

I find even when we don’t say “emotional” for “camaraderie” it’s not unknown or inconceivable for me to say there are a couple men (use to be three) I would go to the wall for. While the physical just isn’t there for me in any way, this can only be an emotional attachment that would make you willing to lay it down for a “friend”.

It honestly seems to come from a different place than for a woman though. That protective, loyalty, Neanderthal adrenaline for a woman seems to be more gender activated and easier to override. A woman can do something to reverse this instinct.

Something happens in your experience together with a man that seems to forge that rare but very strong bond that takes a hell of a lot more to undo. It’s more of an evolved reaction than an instinctual one. “Emotional” is the only real word to use when you could be called on for ANYTHING and you’ll do it or give it, even to your own determent, without question.

For me, it seems one emotion is automatically there genetically and can be torn down. The other appears to need building from scratch but isn’t so readily toppled. But they ARE emotions.
