Ironically, this past week Musician's F(r)iend has been having a Fender sale in honor of what would have been Leo Fender's 100 b-day...1 article concluded that there is considerable debate about who got the solid-body electric out there first, yadayada...my personal preference has always been the Fender Strat over the LP, but there's no denying the incredible influence of Les on the world of Rock n Roll (inadvertent it may have been).
To me, Les Paul stands tall more as the man who invented multi-track recording...the music industry would have been a much different thing over the last half-century without Les as the trailblazer. RIP, Mr Paul...
