You don't have to go back to the 1500s for some of this.
In the 1940s I lived in a place named Mountainburg Ar, in the USA. Our house had dirt floors and we took a bath after every rain. Mother caught the rain in an old wash tub abd the next day the sun would heat it enough for baths. Late that afternoon. my sisters an I would all undress and take turns from the oldest down, I was the youngest so I was always last. I don't ever remember Mom or Dad taking a bath.
I also remember having a Smoke House where we hung the ham and bacon to cure. I don't know the process but salt was used so it would'nt spoil. Every couple of weeks the men around town would get together and shoot more pigs then split up the meat.
Maybe I should write a book about my memories of the old days.
