After speaking to Moore late Wednesday, Mathyssen accepted his explanation that he'd been looking at pictures of his girlfriend and apologized to him, said a party spokesman.
Mathyssen was in her London riding Thursday but is expected to make a formal apology to Moore in the Commons on Monday.
Moore said once Mathyssen formally apologizes, he'll consider the matter closed.
"I hope nobody goes through what I did in the last 24 hours," he said to a sustained ovation from colleagues in the House of Commons. "Let's leave the ugliness behind. Let's serve our constituents and build a better Canada."
However, one of Mathyssen's NDP colleagues wasn't so quick to drop the matter. Winnipeg MP Pat Martin, usually one of the party's most aggressive partisans, said he was embarassed by the fiasco and never believed the allegation against Moore "for a minute."
"I'm not proud of yesterday, believe me," said Martin, adding that had he known what Mathyssen was going to do, "I would have intervened and stopped it."
