Loulabelle, yesterday was the solstice, therefore the first day of Summer, according to current understanding. We use a four-season year.
The idea of solstice as "midsummer" comes from the ancient Germanic understanding of a two-season year. Winter & summer. Equinoxes would therefore, mark the beginning of the seasons, with the solstices marking the mid-season.
So, in fact, yesterday was both the first day of summer, and the middle of summer. Just depends on your point of view.
Either way, hope the holy day was a good one for peeps.
