I think Hanna-Barbera's greatest contribution to animation was creating Tom & Jerry; when they were fired from MGM in the late '50's for cost-cutting purposes, they were forced to start their own company making cartoons like Yogi & company for TV; the tight budget constraints forced many shortcuts in the animation process, & when I watched some of their early work in reruns a few years back, I was dismayed at how crude-looking the cartoons were; still, when I was 5 yrs old & watching them for the first time, I didn't notice all that, & it started me on my lifelong love of cartoons...
