Maybe half a dozen or so came by the house. Like Scarecrow mentioned, a lot of people take their kids to "safe" places rather than trust people in their neighborhoods. While niecessary and good for the kdis, it's really kind of sad!
As a kid, we used to room for blocks and blocks and never worried about anything bad happening. That was part of the fun. Even in the late seventies we'd have 40 or more kids stop by the house for candy and it was fun seeing how they were all dressed up. (A few teen agers who obviously weren't so interested in dressing up, but usually they had masks, at least.)
The world's changed ... but sometimes, not for the better, I fear.
