Hey, BG...good to see you posting here again!
Here's some ideas (not all NW Washington, but driveable): Take the ferry from Anacortes thru the San Juan Islands, drive around Mt. Rainier, Museum of Glass in Tacoma (they'll show you how to blow...glass that is

), Pike Street Market then clam chowder at Ivar's down on the waterfront, state fair (late Aug-early Sept) in Puyallup (of course, you have be able to pronounce Puyallup before you can go there

), Deception Pass State Park and also Coupeville on Whidbey Island, pick a box of apples in Wenatchee, brewery tour (and tasting) in Tumwater, Government Locks and salmon ladder in Ballard, Village Cafe in Marysville (GREAT pies!), check out the commercial reef net fishing on Lummi Island, Chuckanut Drive between Burlington and Bellingham, steelhead fishing on Skagit River, trip over the Canadian border through Blaine, North Cross-State Highway (stop and take the tour of Ross Dam also), scenic LaConner (then go back in April to view the tulip fields), take the ferry to Port Townsend then drive up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park.
