Acceptance kind of depends on who you hang with, too, don't you think?
And I don't mean that bi- is more acceptable if your friends are gay ... quite the opposite, in fact.
I have a number of friends, both women and men, who are accepting of bisexuality -- some have tried it and don't personally care for it, others have not been able to try it yet, and some are frankly bisexual -- but anyone who is bisexual had better be pretty careful who they admit it to ... hetero OR gay!
Personally, I think the rejection of it is based more on fear of the unknown ... sort of like my 14 y o friend who won't try new foods because they look "gross." I mean, if it's not something you see in romantic comedies, how would you know if it was good? Limited thinking based on limited experience = closed minds.
