Bisexuality, like any human behaviour, has gone through periods of acceptance and disapproval.

Classical Sparta and renaissance Italy were periods where it was expected that (especially young) men would achieve sexual release through the most available social group, each other.

The other face of general modern resistance to bisexuality in men is the niggling fear held by men who are not really comfortable in their sexuality that association with bi men may precipitate a situation where they will take part in a bi episode and come out the end as a pink card carrying gay activist. It's narrow, silly and improbable, but the fear is there.
