Thanks to every single one of you for your words and thoughts - a cliché, I know, but it really does help to know there are people rooting for him.

I visited my dad again this afternoon - the pain is being managed with very mild analgesics just now, as it isn't too bad. Unfortunately, the staff informed me (and him!) that as he is so weak, he won't be going home for some considerable while yet; a statement that has pissed him off no end, I can tell you!

He still has his sense of humour, thankfully, and is managing to flirt with the nurses a bit - a side of him I've never seen before, and not bad for 75!
