"Passing" Thoughts
Hey everybody.
Later today, I'm going to the funeral service of a man who passed away in the early-morning hours of tuesday.
He was 6 weeks shy of his 44th birthday, two months younger than me.
He has a 13-yr old daughter - she's 6-months older than MY daughter.
He smoked 40 cigs a day from about 9 years of age - diagnosed with lung and liver cancer on Halloween last year.... my daughters birthday. One of the reasons I gave up smoking - the other being my daughter.
He was a simple man, but wanted for nothing.
He had the love of his wife and daughter.
He was out with frineds EVERY day of the week - a social life to rival anyone's.
He was generous to a fault, sometimes to his own detriment.
He suffered from Schizophrenia since he was 13 years old, although had been well for a number of years.
He never once, in the 5 years I knew him, lost his temper, complained, or even raised his voice.
He was my patient.
He was my friend.
I will miss him.
