Seems that maybe he's anxious not to hurt you by going too fast, which is a good thing for him to be a considerate lover, but the down side is anything that breaks a guy's concentration is liable to have a deflating effect...which means, as others have suggested, that continuous foreplay & a little dirty talk during the prep stage might just help things along...
