Well... so far the best thing I have found to work is hold your breath and run like mad from the house to the car and jump in really fast! Then... you take the handy dandy newspaper left in the car for such situations and swat the 8-10 skeeters that jumped in with you..

You start the car...get out the binoculars and look at your flowers & plants whilst in the vehicle!
