Sound words
Sometimes I use sound words (ummmm, mmmmmm, ahhhh - just to name a few) to express something that would take a lot more dictionary words to get the point across without them .... so, I have a few questions ..... answer any, all or make your own observations/comments/questions.
What sound words do you find yourself using most? or what combo(s) of sound words are your favorite? Do certain sound words that sound the same, but get spelled differently - are they that way because they are being used by different people, or do you use both and they have different meanings? (ie ahhhhhhh and awwwwww) When you use them in solid caps does that mean you would be saying them louder or with more emotion or both? Do you find yourself using them more often in your written correspondence (IM's, EM's and PM's) or do you use about the same amount in similar verbal conversations? |
Now - my response to one of my questions -
Solid caps usually indicate for me more of an emotion statement that a how loud thing. :) j |
*smack* = well it's self explanatory
oooooooooooo = exited awwwwwwww = pity, sweet, or me being sarcastic about those 2 feelings ahhhhhhhhhhh = enlightenment ohhhhhhhhhhh = erotic pleasure dohhhhhhhhh! = realization of my stupidity mmmmmmmmm = scrumptious mmm-mmmmm = better for me than Campbell's soup :p oh myyyyyyyyy = speechless negatively or positively ut oh = I fucked up! (I use this one too much!):p Caps means loud for me....or just excitement..... I use these damn dots (elipses) to break up my random thoughts that never seem to be whole sentences! |
Mistress Lilith doesn't always give me permission to make sounds during my "special training".
on those rare occasions you may hear mmmmmmmmm - muffled by the gag ofcourse before being gagged you could hear (depending on permission) ooooooooooooooo - that's interesting (hope it doesn't hurt much mistress) ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh - now I get it you tie that strap around here and that bit goes up there.... oh myyyyyyyyyyyy - that's a big surprise ! hehehe - if tickled in the right place ;) |
thanks Lilith and Fussypucker -- it's been fun for me to read your replies!!!
some of mine are: hmmmmmm - I seem to start sentences with this one on-line trying to say, thinking about it before I start to type my answer. oooops - this is my ut oh word - I screwed up or didn't say it right the first (or second...) time ahhhhhhh, ooooooh, ohhhhhh, mmmmmm - all variations of that feels good!!!! and the .... for me also break up thoughts cause I know some english teacher would have a fit at the way I write these days! lol thanks again |
I doubt out of all my posts there are but a handful that don't have the ... at the end of a sentence. I think 'cause it's more than a statement, it's part of a whole statement that has different facets. Then I pretty much use my Mmmmm's and Awwww's and such the same as Lilith. Although I don't use ut-oh... I usually stick with DOH! Caps for me is usually louder. I try to use bold or italic fonts for inflection, but not always.

I'm one of those uncomfortable people who was taught young not
to um and ah, so often if I'm stuck for a word, there is an awkward silence, like.............................................. ..............now. |
OF, I know just what you mean!!! every time I type one I think of how many times I was told not to hummmm and hawwww!!! :)
