last good book?
so,
since pixies people spend a lot of their time on the site, playing word games and such, one assumes that we're well read. :D what was the last good book you read? and of all that you've read, what's been your favourite? :p me? i'm reading stephen king/peter straub's 'black house' (was waiting for the paperback - space constraints) my fave will always be douglas adams' definitive 'the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy' :D |

Stephen King's last book in the Dark Tower Series ~ Wizard and Glass~
|
I just got finished with King's "From a Buick 8" and it was the first book whose twist and turns surprised me in a long time, it was great. My favorite book would be "The World According to Garp". Loved the character more than myself, just related.
I read all things King again and again and own many first editions some signed (I know geek alert). My favorite King book would have to be "IT" because it is the only book of his I could only read once, because it scared me. |
Lolita! Lolita! Lolita!
I LOVED it! Not only was it the last good book I read, it is possibly the BEST book I've read. If you haven't read it then you should. I have never seen love, desire, infatuation and obsession described so perfectly. I also read David Sedaris' 'Me Talk Pretty One Day' recently (on an entirely different kind of tack) and thought that was great too. |
I like twisted stuff.............
am just finishing the second book written by Jim Knipfell. The first one, Slackjaw was excellent. I believe he writes a column for the paper, though I can't remember right now which one. (his column is called Slackjaw, but I'm guessing most haven't heard of him) Takes me about a year to get thru a book though....can't seem to make time to read! |
i'm in the middle of Ovid's 'Metamorphoses', but the last truly bad-ass book i read was probably 'Technicolor Pulp', by Arty Nelson.
|
Currently reading Stephen King, Bag of Bones. If I was pushed for a favourite, then I'd have to say James Patterson, Kiss The Girls.
|
Anything by Nicholas Sparks... just read his latest... Nights in Rodanthe... a great book...
|
Last good book I read was James Patterson's Violets are Blue, I enjoy the Alex Cross series
|
Anne McMaffrey's latest Pern book and the newist book in the "Left Behind" series.

Ok you've hit on one of my favorte past times. I love to read when I'm not at work or surfin the web (hanging out at lot at pixies) I'm reading.
Right now I'm reading Black Cherry Blues by James Lee Burke Been on this crime fiction kick lately. As for a favorite how can I pic just one. Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins has to close to the top of my list but anything by Tom is great. Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore all his books are great he writes a lot of what I would call horror humor. Skipped Parts by Tim Sandlin a great story about two young kids learning about sex. A Widow for One Year by John Irving hard to pick a favorit with him I love all his books. Out of Sight by Elmore Leonard the book is much better then the movie. Skin Tight by Carl Hiaasen any time you want to LOL just pick up one of his books. Pest Control by Bill Fitzhugh just shows what can happen if someone miss understand you add and a little luck. I have to agree with dannyk too the Hitchhiker's Guide Trilogy (not sure why it is called that there are 5 book in all ) is great have the book , tapes of the BBC radio show and the movie. |
When;I lived with my parents;in Conn.We lived next(accross the
street);from a whole block;that consisted of a Library&Library grounds!I used to read 2/3 hardcover books a week. Now; unfortunately;I don't take the time to read.I subscribe to M&F and Flex magazines.1/2 the time;I don't even read them;properly! One of these days;I'll get my priorities straight;probably;when I'm to old to do anything but read! |

I couldn't agree with you more Booger, I haven't read a Tom Robbins book that I didn't like...though I think "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" is my fave I just finished up "Five Mile House" by Karen Novak....ghost/suspense. The ending wasn't impressive but the book kept me hooked. Right now I'm reading "What the Body Remembers" by Shauan Singh Baldwin.....so far, it's in the category of books that I can put down but have not completely bored me to tears yet. |
Last good book: The Sexual Life of Catherine M. by Catherine Millet
