Taxes!!!
Just to let everyone know.Everything equals out!Alot of people;
have said to me;that we must have money because; New Hampshire;has no sales tax.In 1999;I got my wife;a new Pontiac Grand Am;GT;gold with RamAir,V6.It was paid off but was bought under lease;so she had nothing;even tho it was paid off.I,now have;a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee;with most options;because I think it is practical.My wife;loved my car;so we got her a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee;with a moon roof;like mine;only a different color.In New Hampshire;you pay a Town Tax every year;when registering your car.You pay the Town Tax;to the town;but that doesn't include;the state Fee;for your plates.I was amazed!The Town fee was $454.Each year;it is based on what they say the car is worth.Besides my home&property;they also get,my car,my wifes car,my motorcycle,and my utility trailer.That doesn't include licenseing my animals.Good thing tiis is a FREE country!Anyone else;have any unexpected expenses? Irish P.S.On Chronicle;they showed the prisoners;making License Plates;that said"Live Free or Die"Somehow;that seems contradictory! |
There is most definitely a trade off we have to make when it comes to finding a comfortable place to enjoy or own "standard of living". I too live in NH Irish, I own a home, a 2002 Jeep Liberty AND work in Massachusetts. $4,300 in property taxes, $450 for car registration, and about $2,000 to the state of Mass...not to mention the $6 for licensing my dog!!! I have many relatives in Mass who can't imagine spending $4,300 for property taxes, but I contend that if you do the math it is still cheaper to live in NH. In Mass they just get your $$ in 100 different ways. Plus, house prices in Mass are INSANE!!! Now my monthly taxes are slightly more than my monthly mortgage, but if I lived in Mass I'd be paying Three to FOUR Times as much in mortgage payments for the same house, but "only" about 2/3 the taxes...Ooooohhh, big savings, huh???Add to that the sales tax & high gas tax...I often wonder how TWO people can afford to live, forget just one little old me!
And I propose a NEW way to look at our good old "Live Free or Die"...add the word "Trying" to the end of it...it has a much better ring :) |
Unexpected expenses?
Honey....everything is an unexpected expense. LOL We're still paying off massive high interest debt from our old store. The store has been closed for 7 years and we'll likely be paying for another 10. :eek: And taxes...not so bad but when you pay them for your mother-in-law and lend money to other family members so they can pay theirs......well, to many it looks like we're rich too. Yeah, right. :D |
Soulminer---I listen to talk radio alot!I listen to a Mass. station.
WRKO!I can't believe that people are dumb enough to live in Mass If you commute;every day;I don't envy you!If you remember the movie-"On Golden Pond";after the movie;I was called to rebuild; the U.S. Mail boat;that supposedly burned;in the movie.The boats are owned by Pat Curtain;he owns the marina;between the Burger King and the Bonanza Steak house;in Laconia.He offered me a job;full time!I never went back because the commute sucked Irish |
done the math. cheaper for me this side of the border. thanx for paying your land tax....i like getting my smokes cheap and when i buy anything over a couple of hundred i avoid the sales tax.
didn't realize this was such a local board |
that's why they say that there are only two certain things in life: death and taxes
|
dzbuster---My buddy;lived in Maine;and he used to come to New
Hampshire;to buy his beer&cigarettes.He also;used his old NH. address;for inspecting his motorcycle.He knew that;I could get almost anything inspected;as long as it was roadworthy.(Brakes, etc.)From everything that I've heard;it is a fairly standard procedure. Irish P.S.He&wife moved to Florida!He has his own Lanscaping Business&Lawn Maintanence Business now!Hobe Sound,Fla. |
The means people use to avoid tax are surpassed only by the
means the governments find to impose them. |
