Xmas feast?
What sorta things do you have on your Xmas table....
We don't really do the traditional thing anymore, tend to just have a BBQ, salads, kabana/cheese, lollies thing. Just curious :) |
We will be serving a roast turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sauerkraut, creamed spinach, carrots, and rolls. One of the sisters brings the wine.

Traditional turkey and all the trimmings, but also a vegetarian side for my daughter. This year it is Spinach and Feta Cheese pie. We have mashed and roast potatoes with loads of veggies.I also make my dressing in a crockpot so she can eat it too, tastes great and lots to go around....and home made dessert. This year Black Forest trifle. She brings the wine.

I have not gotten there yet. Not sure what I will make. Most likely turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, lots of veggies cooked and in salads. I'll make a pie of some kind. Maybe pecan.

For some reason, that brings to mind the absolute best political bumper sticker I've ever seen:
"I feed on the flesh of the living. And I vote!" Santa just better be careful coming down the chimney 'round here. |
Geeez think I need to come UpOver for a Xmas one year lol
Usually its just too damn hot to eat the traditional dinner, betting the snow helps UpOver appetites lol |
We were not home for Thanksgiving so I missed cooking the big meal.
|
We don't have Thanksgiving here
We just do Easter, Xmas in July (fucken commercialism there, I don't celebrate this one!), and Christmas |
We will have turkey this year. Some years we have ham. But all the sides are about the same: mashed tater's, gravy, sweet potato casserole, broccoli with cheese, butternut squash, turnip, creamed onions, corn, cranberry sauces, pickles, olives, pumpkin pie, apple pie........ on Christmas eve we have a birthday cake for the baby Jesus.
I have some yummy whole grain bread, rolls, and mayo. in case anybody wants a turkey sandwich at night. Usually not hungry, but prepared just in case. :) |
I'm with Fang on this. We eat for the heat and drink like we're snowed in.
|
Well since we had frozen Chinese and champagne for Thanksgiving, I've decided to go traditional for Christmas. Turkey, homemade cranberry relish, baked sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar, hot buttered rolls, and a big pan of glorious stuffing!! :)
|
In the distant past, we always had turkey for Thanksgiving and a ham for Christmas. Mrs. WI is not crazy about pork, so we've had turkey for both holidays since we got married a hundred or so years ago. This year we are going to have a nice roast. Well, I hope it turns out nice. It looked beautiful when Giada cooked it.
Side dishes will include the usual cast of characters. Mashed potatoes, candied yams, sautéed green beans and a nice salad. I might throw a batch of polenta in as well. And we'll probably make a veggie lasagna for consumption at some point too. |
I saw her make the roast and polenta yesterday with the veggies. :lurv:

I loved how much sass she gave her mother about grating the cheese.
