Better???...I'd have to say no..at this time since it isn't fully developed.You need 3rd party software to use the service as a "home phone"... a la Skype...Vonage...etc.....That capability is in the near future though. I use it as an all in one...ie...I have given my GV # out and I can have it ring my cell,home,work...etc...phone...or take a voicemail for one and let another ring and so on..The voice mail is accessible online in your GV inbox and can be played right in the window.
Just thought I would offer the invites because they are instantaneous......where as...the request to Google by e-mail could take awhile as there is a wating list at the moment as they develop the service further.
But don't think of this as an endorsement!!! (Although,I do love it)....Beacause I have tried every piece of free software in the world at least once.....some twice!!!....lol :)
