My last chat with TeddyBear had her still in the hospital on a drip while trying to recover from another MAJOR surgery. She was improving along a trail too often traveled and in good spirits (as only this loooooong suffering lady is capable of) and hoping to return home within the next few days.

I was tensely waiting for a call from a hospital and got one, but from a different hospital in Peoria Illinois. Our DicksBro wants you to know he was hospitalized this afternoon with a "dangerously low blood count" after a scheduled exam. Word is he will be under observation while they explore for the cause and will not be posting until further notice.

We sometimes get something we don't want, .................. like a call from the people your son works for. I got one this afternoon and wasn't happy to be talking to the police department. You can read as much as I can here. The last message was that he was taken to a hospital with a Level 1 Trauma Center and is in surgery with broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a punctured diaphragm.


It's going to be a long night. :rolleyes2

The call about your son is one that every parent dreads. I will keep him (and you) in my thoughts and hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Erok was not with him.

Last update I have is my son now out of surgery and in ICU on a respirator for tonight. The punctured diaphragm was repaired and the broken ribs repositioned to allow the collapsed lung to recover. He has a lacerated spleen and kidney, broken tailbone and hip. They said his spine and brain show no signs of injury. He is in serious but stable condition. I don't expect (nor hope for) any further change or update until mid morning when they have evaluated and come back with a report.

Not to minimize my concern for teddy & db, but words fail me in expressing real concern about your son. Too many best wishes for all would still not be enough.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you! What a day!

PF thanks for the latest update, the injuries sound horrific :( I'm glad it's good news about his spine and brain, that's one less thing to worry about. Keeping everything crossed for good news following the evaluation later.

PF, I have to say, I think even more of you for taking the time to post these notices about Teddy and DB when you must be concerned about your son.

PF, my most fervent well wishes goes out to your son. I'm happy it wasn't worse than this. And my well wishing goes out to the rest of the Pixies family who are in the hospital as well.

My son has been taken off the respirator and is breathing on his own with some difficulty and a lot of pain but he seems to have passed the life threatening points. He is still considered 'serious but stable' and they hope to move him to a 'step down unit' by tomorrow. Just breathing is a task so talking is not a consideration right now. He shows the stress when writing a couple short notes for the medical people so isn't up to conversation.

There is going to be a LOT of healing and we'll see when and where that takes us. For now I'm just one VERY grateful father that I still have my son.

It's been a very long 23 hours. :eek:
